Leeds Digital Festival is a celebration of the amazing talent this great city has to offer. Whether you're a digital ninja, underground urban artist, eager student, collaborator freelancer fresh with ideas, it's a chance for you to enjoy and explore the digital scene in all its glory.
The festival's not just for you, it's by you too. As a showcase of our collective talent, the festival is delivered entirely by the Leeds digital community so we need you and that talent of yours to help create the festival from the branding to the collateral, installation, events and exhibitions.

Facebook vs Reality

This event explores issues of truth, identity, self-representation and wellbeing on the internet. To what extent is social media a fantastic networking tool for developing relationships or does it leave us feeling everyone else is doing more interesting things that we are - or is it somewhere in-between?

The event is inspired by the Facebook vs Reality photographic exhibition at the Round Foundry which is part of the Digital Festival and the Love Arts Festival. The photographer, Anna Roberts will be sharing the inspiration for the exhibition. Her work is a personal exploration of how social media affects her mental health and encompasses the online experiences of people with Asperger’s Syndrome.

This informal workshop is for anyone who uses social media, personally and/or professionally, who is interested in a conversation about social media and well-being.

It is facilitated by Victoria Betton, director of the Love Arts festival, working for Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and currently undertaking a PhD exploring social media and mental health.

Tea and coffee is available and you are welcome to bring along your lunch.
