The Leeds Digital Festival
Brought to you by a motley crew of digital evangelists, Leeds Digital Festival is the brainchild of the digital scene in the fair city of Leeds. Designed to bring the digital scene in the city together over a few beers, some talks, the odd workshop, a handful of seminars and one epic conference, the festival aims to shine a light on talent, creativity, innovation, imagination and some of the best digital minds in the north of England.
There are no rules to the festival, and no two Leeds Digital Festivals are ever the same with an ever evolving cast of events, ideas and truly talented professionals who deliver them.
A community of people, some familiar others new faces, collaborate throughout the year to create a platform including website, festival print from posters to guides and decals, social content, and anything else at the disposal of the design-savvy, digitally gifted, folk of Leeds. The platform is constantly evolving and those who want to be involved meet in pubs, bars, dodgy cafes and trendy delis to thrash out ideas for events covering everything from games to social, search, data, futurology, mobile, and more.
Throughout the first two weeks in October, anyone who feels inclined, can curate or host an event on any theme of digital they choose. Event organisers are responsible for covering the costs of their events either through ticketing or sponsorship. They decide all aspects of how it will work, from whether or not to feed and water guests, to venue, format and booking arrangements. Then they tell us, and we share it with you.
There is a core team of facilitators, doers, thinkers, tinkerers, and creators who guide and shape the programme ensuring minimal event clashes, match-making event ideas with volunteers, and spreading the word at every opportunity.
And this is how Leeds Digital Festival is made each and every year; through collaboration, creativity and an amalgamation of all the daft ideas and conversations that take place down the pub.
